Night Striped Bass Captain Carl reports that the Night Striped Bass trip saw a slow down on the local bite. They seemed to be off the feed, but we did still manage a fair amount of keepers and all at trophy sizes! Among the catch, we had a 38.2 pounder, a 39.4 pounder and Gavan Daly of Maspeth Queens took the pool with a 41.4lb trophy striped bass. We also had some beautiful weather! Block Island Behemoth Bass Captain Carl reports another great night catching Behemoth Bass on the Viking Starship! Every single fish was over 25lbs-40lbs! They bit steady through the thunder, lightning and rain. Once the tide changed, they developed some lockjaw, but we ended up just a few shy of a boat limit. Sunset Jigging Striper Trip – Mon July 13 Captain Stephen Francis reports a good trip last night on the Viking Starship. They were met again with a strong flood tide and a mass of birds. There were a bunch of shorts and keepers. 1/2 Day – AM Captain Dave G reports a slow morning on the 1/2 day trip. There were a couple of fluke, porgies and sea bass (returned unharmed) caught. The pool winner was Peter Gibralter from Hauppauge, NY with a 3.5lb fluke. 1/2 Day – PM Captain Dave G reports a decent afternoon with a mix of fluke, porgies and sea bass – all released unharmed, for the last day until December 31st!!. Montauk Jumbo Porgies Captain Dave reports fishing started good this morning but as the day went on fishing got tough. We still manage to put a nice catch together with some keeper Fluke & Striped bass in the mix. There were a lot off Sea bass around and those caught were released unharmed. The pool winner was Mr Jian Deng with a 3lbs Porgy. Half Day AM Capt Dave G reports a decent morning of fluke, porgies and seabass (all returned unharmed). We had the junior members of the Devin Yacht Club out on the boat and they had a great time! Night Striped Bass-Starship Captain Carl reports a fair night of fishing Saturday night. We first chased some birds around, but they were diving on tiny bait with small blues under them. Once the sun went down and the tide switched over, we had steady action all night with a good amount of striped bass, as well as lots of blue fish! It was an action packed leading to bloody decks! All in all a fun night aboard the Viking Starship with great weather and fun fishing!! The first place pool winner was Andrea Stimpfl from Hauppauge, NY with a 36lb 6oz striped bass. Block Island Behemoth Night Striped Bass Captain Carl reports another fantastic night bass fishing on the Viking Starship! We fished Block for the entire ebb tide and had fish every drift to 43lbs! Once we lost the tide , we shot back to Montauk for the beginning of the flood tide and caught very well. We filled our full boat limit of GIANT MOO COW LINESIDERS!! Jay Weber from Ridge, NY took the top honors with a 43.5lb behemoth, barely edging out another 42.5 pounder! . Night Striped Bass Captain Carl reports absolutely phenomenal fishing on the Viking Starship tonight! Every single person fought and landed a moo cow tonight under the Montauk Lighthouse! We had many drifts with 8 on, 9 on, just absolute mayhem! We ended up limiting out again with all big fish and released some as well to fight another day! 30 pounders were the normal size, with the average weight class of 25-35 pounders! Montauk NY Local Barney Breslin found himself a real behemoth bass in the mix, winning the pool with a giant 47lb 8oz bass! . Block Island Behemoth Night Striped Bass Captain Carl is happy to report that the Block Island Behemoth trip lived up to it’s name last night! There are not as many fish as there are in Montauk just yet, but every single one caught was an XXL model, with the smallest fish of the trip just shy of 30lbs. The two biggest weighed in at 47lbs and 49lbs! All the others were in the 30-40lb class. Any day now, the behemoth grounds will break wide open with them! Sunset Jigging Striper Trip – July 6th Captain Stephen Francis reports a slow night of jigging bass last night, but there was action at the end of the ebb with some angry blue fish! There were some scup caught while there was no tide. When the flood started there were some bass caught. Sunset Jigging Striper Trip Captain Stephen Francis reports a slow start to the evening since there was no tide when they got to the grounds. Without the tide they still caught a bunch of porgies and a few blue fish. About half way through the trip they started getting the flood tide and were greeted with some jumbo stripers!
