Half Day AM Captain Stephen Francis reports a bit of a slow morning aboard the Viking Stariper. We had an east wind with a funny tide, and even though we moved around a bit, it was tough fishing. We did manage a handful of keepers. Today’s pool winner was Frank Cetro of West Islip with a 3.5lb fluke. Sat July 4- HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!
Block Island Behemoth Captain Carl reports another awesome night of bass fishing! We stayed local due to the massive amounts of MOO COWS and it paid off! It started off a little slow, with one here and there, but once the tide turned, it was on! All XXL models with 2 over 40lbs and a couple over 30lbs, and the rest were over 20lbs. We had ANOTHER FULL BOAT LIMIT and it was spectacular! Eddie Kantar from Yonkers took the pool with a 44lb 14oz behemoth! We are sailing again tonight at 6pm! Night Striped Bass Captain Carl reports absolutely phenomenal Bass Fishing! From the first drift to the last, we caught MONSTER Moo Cow Linesiders, all in the 25 to 45 lb class! It was EPIC and we had a FULL BOAT LIMIT! Three fish were over 40lbs including pool winner Mike Sedowski of Queeens, NY who had a 42 lb 10 oz cow! We had a lot over 30lbs as well. It was awesome, plain and simple. Check out the pictures! We are sailing every night except Tuesdays. Now is the time to land a trophy! . Full Day Fluke Captain Stephen Francis reports a fine day on the full day fluke boat today. It started off a little slow, but after we made a move we found some nice fluke to work on. We picked away all day and ended up just 3 away from our boat limit! Low hook on the boat had 3, but everyone else had 4 or 5 keepers. Saul Gonzalez of Freeport, NY had his limit of fluke and won the pool with a 6.10lb fluke. We also had some pretty giant scup in the mix as well as plenty of jumbo sea bass (all released unharmed). Full Moon Night Striped Bass Captain Carl reports a fantastic full moon night trip on the Viking Starship! We arrived to the grounds before sunset and we were welcomed by birds and giant angry bluefish! It was lock and load big blues and we ever saw 3 whales about a mile away. As the sun was setting, the moo cow bass started feeding in a frenzy and they were all giant cows! Things slowed down as the tide died, but it changed quickly and they started biting again. All in all it was a great night with all the fish in the 20-40lbs range. Chris Luke took the top honors in the pool with a 39.2 pounder, barely edging out George Jehns 39.1 pounder! Montauk Jumbo Porgies Captain Dave reports a much better day fishing than yesterday. We had a mixed bag today of some really nice sized fish. We had some blues, a 30lb striper, a couple fluke- one at 7lbs, and some nice sea bass (all returned unharmed). We had a good day with a little bit of everything!

Montauk Jumbo Porgies Captain Dave reports a slow day aboard the Viking Starship. It was a tough day of fishing with some dirty water but we managed a decent catch. Today’s pool winner was Harold Bussey of Brooklyn with a 3lb porgy.

Half Day Fluke PM Captain Steven Jr reports some better fishing this afternoon with some calmer seas. The conditions were calmer and the tide was better and we managed a handful of keeper fluke! First place pool winner was John Ambrosio of Bethpage with a 4lb fluke and in second place was Stu Bucker of East Islip with 3.52lb fluke. Half Day Fluke AM Captain Steven Jr reports that due to the tough conditions with the east wind this morning we had a very difficult time fishing. There was a nasty east wind and dirty water but we did manage a keeper fluke and a couple porgies.

Half Day Fluke PM Captain Carl reports an excellent afternoon half day trip on the Viking Starship! We had tons of action and a lot of keeper fluke for everyone, as well as some jumbo porgies and a bunch of sea bass (all returned unharmed). Freddy “Motor” Shea even caught a beauty 6.21lb fluke! Block Island Behemoth Bass Captain Carl reports a slow night of bass fishing. We tried a number of spots and actually marked quite a few fish, but couldn’t get them to bite. We only ended up with a couple of bass aboard with Brian O’Neill from East Meadow, NY taking the pool with a 22 pounder.
