Night Striped Bass
Captain Anthony reports horrible conditions which equaled for horrible fishing. We started with slack drift, we got a few blues, then once we got the tide the drift was difficult but nothing mattered. Bass were not on the feed. We stayed out late and finally started marking, but only managed 1 out of a pile. The first place pool winner was George Simmons of North Babylon with a 23pounder and in second was Lucian Forantatas of Croton on Hudson with a 12pounder. Congrats to Lucien who at 14 years old showed up his father Christos a former derby winner.
Half Day Fluke PM
Captain Joe reports a good but windy afternoon on the Viking Starship today. Even though we had some tough conditions, we still managed a great catch! We had tons of action with lots of nice sized fluke. We had fluke, about a dozen porgies and a nice amount of sea bass. Today’s fist place pool winner was Theresa Milly of NYC with a 6.2lb fluke and in second was 12 year old Ethan Pratt of New Mexico with a 5.1lb fluke. Honorable mention goes out to Mary Poppins with a nice doormat at 7lb 10oz fluke.
Half Day Fluke AM
Captain Joe reports an okay day of fishing today. It was a tough morning with the breezy wind against the tide, but we still managed to get some over the rail. We had some really nice sized fluke and a handful of nice sea bass in the mix too. Today’s 1st place pool winner was Bruce Fagin of Huntington with a 9.06lb fluke and in second place was Joe Araujo of Garden city with a 5.5lb fluke.
Montauk Full Day Porgies and Sea Bass
Captain Dave reports a very good day of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We saw a bunch mixed size porgies, a bit on the smaller side than what we have been getting, lots of nice sized sea bass and some blues in the mix . Today’s pool winner was Troy from Brooklyn with a 3lb porgy.
