Sunset Striped Bass and Bottom Fishing Captain Dave reports a slow night aboard the Viking Star. We gave it a good shot and moved around a bit, but it was a slow go, however we did manage a few nice ones in the boat by the end of the night. The pool winner was Dommick Sconzo of Selden with a nice 39lb striped bass. Montauk Jumbo Porgies & Sea Bass Capt Dave reports that we went exploring for some new porgy areas today and found some nice fish. The porgies were a bit on the smaller side and there were a good amount of sea bass up to 4lbs. We also caught a couple of fluke up to 6lbs. 1/2 Day Fluke – AM Capt Liam reports a very slow start, but when we moved to deeper water and it was good. We had fluke, sea bass, a lot of porgies and blue fish. Many went home with full buckets. The pool winner was Christos Maniatis from Brooklyn, NY with a 6lb fluke. Montauk Jumbo Porgies and Seabass Capt Dave reports a much improved day. We had a slow and steady pick of mixed size porgies with larger sized fish today. We were fishing from the first to last drift. We had a handful of seabass and 8 keeper fluke. Half Day Fluke PM Capt Dave G reports a slower afternoon on the Viking Star. Still we managed to put together a catch of fluke sea bass and porgies. Today’s first place pool winner was Gregory Mechaber with a 6.1lb fluke. Full Day Fluke and Sea Bass Captain Sarah reports bit of a slow day today. The sea bass were biting strong but not so much the fluke. We did catch some big, beautiful sea bass with the boat getting its limit. Full Day Fluke and Sea Bass Captain Sarah reports a very light crowd today on the Stariper. The fluke bite was a bit fickle but we managed to land over a handful of doormats. The largest fluke was 9.4lbs but wasn’t in the pool. We also had a lot of sea bass and some porgies mixed in. Today’s first place pool winner was Richard Fallon of Bayshore with an 8.8lb fluke. Montauk Jumbo Summer Porgies & Seabass Captain Dave reports a slower day of fishing than normal aboard the Viking Starship. There was lots of smaller fish to sift through but they still managed to get a good catch. There was a mixed bag of Porgies, Fluke and Seabass. There was even a 14lb Striped Bass caught By George Garden from the Bronx who won first and second place in the pool. 1/2 Day Fluke AM Captain Dave G reports a slow morning of Fluke Fishing aboard the Viking Star. Montauk Jumbo Porgies & Sea Bass Capt Dave reports a decent day of fishing with mostly nice size fish. Everyone had their sea bass limit and we had a few fluke brought aboard. The pool winner was Everton McGlashan from Uniondale, NY with a 3 1/2lb porgy. Eco Tour Capt Sarah reports we had a nice crowd today despite the rain for our Eco tour! We started off by pulling up our traps and we caught 2 lobsters! We also were able to look at some neat spider crabs we trapped. We then pulled our net behind the boat and looked at the different types of seaweed. We rounded off our trip with a photo opportunity by the lighthouse. Half Day Fluke PM Captain Joey D reports a very good afternoon of fishing aboard the Viking Star. The last 2 days have been exceptional summer fishing weather and the catch shows! We had lots of fluke, porgies, sea bass and even a striped bass. Today’s first place pool winner was Robert Licht of Yonkers with a 5.5lb fluke and in second place was Dillon Roske of Kings Park with a 5.25lb fluke. 1/2 Day AM Captain Joe reports beautiful weather this morning, but very little currents until midway through the trip aboard the Viking Star. Once the tide started flooding it was excellent fishing and just about everyone caught some. We ended the trip with a great catch of Fluke, Seabass, Scup and even some Bluefish. 1/2 Day Fluke AM Captain Joe reports a beautiful Montauk morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star. Catching started off a bit slow due to to the slack tide but once the currents began we started catching real good. We had a very nice catch of Fluke, Jumbo Porgies and large Seabass. A special mention goes to young William Egan who caught his first fish ever today! The pool was won by Lou Barton of NY with a 4.1 lb Fluke. There was lots of porgies coming over the rail, lots of these were quite small but there was plenty of big fish too. The pool winner was Bill Swill from Montauk, NY with a 6lb fluke. Jumbo Porgies and Seabass Capt Dave reports very good fishing today. We had really big porgies and some very nice sized seabass. There were also a couple of fluke and bluefish, along with 1 striped bass. The pool winner was Gary Gualita from Brooklyn, NY with a 3.2lb porgy. Night Striped Bass Capt Carl reports a GREAT night of Bass fishing on the Viking Starship. It took a while for the tide to start but we were marking large schools of bass, so we kept drifting until they finally turned on and then it was a couple a drift of all nice quality moo cows. We ended up just a few shy of our boat limit, and everyone went home with meat! Christos Farantatos from Croton on Hudson, NY took the pool with a 43 lb 2 oz Beast of a Striper!
